Laksen Shooting Glasses – Where Performance, Safety and Classic Design Go Hand in Hand

For many hunters and sport shooters, shooting glasses are a natural part of the equipment used on the shooting range. But modern shooting glasses need to do more than simply protect the eyes. They must improve vision, increase comfort and perform optimally under changing light conditions – without compromising on style and fit.

That is exactly the idea behind Laksen Sporting’s shooting glasses. With the Shotmaster and Sunmaster models, Laksen has developed a new generation of shooting glasses where functionality, safety and classic design meet in one complete solution.

Designed for Serious Shooters and Passionate Hunters

The development of Laksen shooting glasses has taken place in collaboration with professional shooting instructors, competition shooters and passionate hunters. The result is shooting glasses created for both training, competitive shooting and bird hunting.

Shooting instructor Rasmus Bjerregaard describes them as some of the most comfortable and best-designed lightweight glasses he has tested – both for teaching and his own competitive shooting.

It is not only about looking good. The shape of the frame, the curvature of the lenses and the specially developed lens colours are designed to optimise contrast and light transmission, allowing the shooter to focus more easily on the target. This provides better visual clarity and a more stable shooting experience.

Ultra-Light Comfort – All Day Long

One of the most remarkable features of Laksen shooting glasses is their extremely low weight. The frame is made from flexible 0.4 mm stainless steel, and the entire pair weighs only 18 grams including lenses.

The low weight makes a huge difference during long days at the shooting range or in the field, where heavy glasses can quickly become uncomfortable. At the same time, the frame is designed to work comfortably together with traditional hearing protection – something many shooters highly appreciate.

The glasses are also constructed without hinges, screws or welds, making the design both flexible and highly durable. The frame can easily be adjusted to different head shapes, and the lenses can be replaced without the use of tools.

Ballistically Certified Protection

Safety is just as important as performance. That is why Laksen shooting glasses are ballistically certified according to both EN166 and ANSI Z87.1 standards.

According to Laksen’s own testing, the lenses can withstand steel shot at close range without shattering or being penetrated. This provides an additional layer of protection in the event of ricochets or accidental discharge.

Many hunters naturally think of hearing protection as essential safety equipment – but the eyes are equally exposed. Here, modern shooting glasses provide important additional reassurance and protection.

Classic Style – Also Beyond the Shooting Range

While many traditional shooting glasses have a highly sporty or tactical appearance, Laksen chose a different approach. The design was developed in collaboration with Danish designer Henrik Bønnelycke, who is himself a passionate hunter and sport shooter.

The goal has been to create shooting glasses that fit naturally into the classic hunting universe. Therefore, they work not only on the shooting range, but also during formal shoots where tweed and traditional hunting style play a central role.

At the same time, the glasses can be worn as stylish everyday sunglasses – a detail that makes them more versatile than many traditional shooting glasses on the market.

Shotmaster or Sunmaster – What Is the Difference?

Laksen offers two different models:

Shotmaster

Shotmaster is developed with a full shield lens that covers the entire field of vision and reduces peripheral light. This creates a highly stable visual experience and makes it particularly popular among sport shooters and competition shooters.

Sunmaster

Sunmaster features separate lenses inspired by modern sunglasses and combines a more classic appearance with high functionality. The model is particularly aimed at hunters seeking maximum versatility and comfort.

Both models are supplied with several specially developed lens colours for different lighting conditions.

Danish Design with Hunting Passion Since 1977

Since 1977, Laksen Sporting has worked to combine classic hunting tradition, innovation and uncompromising quality. The brand is known for uniting functionality and aesthetics in everything from tweed clothing to accessories and equipment for passionate hunters.

The shooting glasses are a natural extension of this philosophy – developed for hunters and shooters who demand high performance without compromising on style, comfort or safety.

Whether you train on the shooting range, compete in sporting events or participate in traditional bird hunts, a pair of quality shooting glasses is an investment in both precision and protection. And with Laksen’s combination of Danish design, low weight and ballistic safety, you get shooting glasses designed to be used – again and again.

Award-Winning Design

In late 2021, Laksen Sporting’s design collab with award winning Danish designer Henrik Bønnelycke resulted in winning the prestigious GOOD DESIGN® Award for our Shotmaster and Sunmaster shooting glasses. The emphasis of the GOOD DESIGN® program is on quality design of the highest form, function, and aestethics a standard beyond ordinary consumer products. The Chicago Athenaeum's GOOD DESIGN® program forwards the ideals of a design process that embodies product excellence, endurance and strong public identity. We are very proud and humbled to achieve the GOOD DESIGN® Award for both Shotmaster and Sunmaster, as it emphasizes the craftsmanship, aestethic design and functionality these shooting glasses offer.
The Good Design® Award was established in 1950, by Ray and Charles Eames, Edgar Kaufmann and Eero Saarinen.
